Accomplishments
of THE SERTOMA CLUB OF KINGSPORT:
- The
Sertoma Club of Kingsport, along with the Junior League, was
instrumental in establishing the Kingsport Speech and Hearing Center,
now known as the Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center. The
club continues to provide some funding and leadership for the Center.
- Annually
sponsors a "Jackets for Children" program through which many
needy children in the community are provided with new jackets during the
Christmas season.
- Coordinated
the erection of the Gazebo in Glen Bruce Park which is used by the
community.
- Long term
promotion of freedom and citizenship through active participation in
National Heritage observances in February each year.
- Each year
our club recognizes a community volunteer with the "Service to
Mankind" award for outstanding community service.
- Our club
has provided leadership in Sertoma International activities including
several District Governors and an International Director elected from
our club.
